The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini opened newly constructed school in the village of Gavazi, Kvareli Municipality.
Building of the new school was decided due to the damage of the old school. Construction works began in 2008 with the financial support of the World Bank and finished in September, 2010.
New school is in compliance with modern standards and 404 schoolchildren study there.
The school successfully carries out its activities. The school has been twinned with Esparto school of California since 2003 with the support of the U.S. State Department.
Several exchange programs were implemented in the scope of the project. Schoolchildren and teachers of the school of California often visit the school of Gavazi. 2 graduates left for the USA to study for a year in the frame of the project.
The school has been cooperating with Cairo American College since 2007. The schoolchildren frequently visit Egypt in the frame of the program.
Two native English speaker teachers work at school. Most of the children speak English well.
The President of Georgia presented excellent students of the school, Valeri Giorgashvili and Gvantsa Zakalashvili with portable computers.
