Representatives of the National Curriculum and Assessment Center visited Akhaltsikhe boarding-school №7 where 34 children with limited abilities study. Director of the Center, Natia Jokhadze presented the children with different gifts. This is one of the schools coordinated by NCAC. On the same day, meeting with the teachers of Samtskhe-Javakheti was held at Akhaltsikhe Public School №5. Aim of the meeting was to represent 2011-2016 National Curriculum to the teachers.

Director of NCAC represented the New National Curriculum to 100 teachers and spoke about the structure and aims of the Curriculum.

New Curriculum is designed to give the schoolchildren knowledge, assist in developing skills, values, analytical thinking.

Invited experts – academicians and teachers as well as NCAC experts worked on 2011-2016 National Curriculum.

New National Curriculum will be launched step by step. It will be introduced in 2011-2012 in the primary classes (I-VI) and in 2012-2013 – basic and high grades (VII-XII).

At the meeting, teachers learned all innovations included in the new Curriculum: changed structure of the National Curriculum, amendments in the subject matter program, compulsory 60%-80% of the content in each subject, new subjects particularly IT, Civil Defense and Safety, dance classes. Piloting of the new subject World Culture is commenced as well. Teaching of the natural sciences and English language is strengthened, list of the selection subjects is broadened and etc.

At the end of the presentation, discussion was held with the participation of the Deputy Director of NCAC Tea Paichadze, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technologies Ekaterine Slovinskaia and expert in geography Manana Ratiani.
