Internal football match was held between the teams of Tbilisi Public School №64 in the scope of the President’s initiative on sports popularization. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze observed the final match. U.S. Marines attended the match at Public School №64 as well.
Competition was held between the high graders. Teams composed with 10th, 11th, and 12th graders competed in the final match. The winning team was awarded with the Cup and diploma. Irine Kurdadze presented the best bombardier with the portable computer. Footballers, who took the second places, were awarded by the U.S. Marines as well.
Public School №64 is the multiethnic school and around 500 children study there. All innovations, initiated by MES are being successfully implemented there, among these innovations is the sports classes. The schoolchildren are engaged in the school competitions. Basketball team of this school defeated the team of the School №161 and took the third place in the school competition.
Adults’ interest in sports is increasing. By the initiative of the President, physical fitness lessons were replaced with the sports classes from the new academic year. Amendments were made in the National Curriculum that is reflected in the integration of physical education and different types of sports. It is being held in all Public Schools of Georgia. New curriculum was created, teachers were retrained and gyms as well as the stadiums were refurbished almost in all schools.
School competitions are held in 3 types of sports: football, basketball and volleyball. Schools choose them independently. Tournaments are held in several rounds and boys along with the girls took part.
