First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Sepherteladze and Director of Education and Science Infrastructure Development Agency of MES, Irakli Todua learned the architecture draft projects of modern school models and awarded with certificates 18 authors of the architecture projects, selected for the competition.
Competition of the modern school project was announced by Education and Science Infrastructure Development Agency of MES in cooperation with Georgian Union of Architects and it is aimed to select concept projects of the modern education area based on the open competition. Experience of different countries and Georgian specificity should be considered in the development of the projects. All interested individuals as well as legal entities were able to participate in the competition.
The commission has already learned the drafts. Currently, evaluation is being held and the winner projects will be identified in a few days. Here is presented the prize of the competition: the first prize for small schools (120 children) equals to 2,000 GEL; the second prize – 1,200 GEL, the third prize amounts to 800 GEL. Prize for the large schools (900 students): the first prize – 2,500GEL, the second prize – 1,500GEL and the third prize – 1,000GEL. 1,000 GEL is allocated for the best alternative (innovative) model.
New findings, reflected in the best projects of the modern schools as well as any innovative models will be considered in the modern school standard that is being developed by MES. Experience of the leading countries and consultations of the professionals are considered in the standard. It will define the criteria of the modern schools, including communication, parameters, equipment or lighting.
