Christmas Exhibition in the frame of Civic Activity Development Program

In the scope of Civic Activity Development program of MES, the joint Christmas exhibition of the works of the children of the twinned schools, vulnerable children and Children With Special Needs was held at Tbilisi Public School №1.

Hand-made items of gipsy adults of Rustavi and Dedoplistskaro as well as inhabitants of Daba Nasakirali, Ozurgeti Municipality and Village of Ianeti, Samtredia Municipality who were internally  displaced during 2008 Russian-Georgian war were exhibited as well.

Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze visited the exhibition at Tbilisi Public School №1. According to the Deputy, MES implements several programs in order to increase civic activity as supporting the inclusive education is one of the top priorities of MES.

Different programs for the support of adults of different social conditions  and abilities has been implemented at MES since 2005. Civic Activity Support Program was launched in 2007 in cooperation with the British organization Children’s High Level Group. Aim of the program is:

  • Cooperation, integration/socialization of the students/schoolchildren of different schools, vulnerable children, representatives of ethnic minorities, Children With Special Needs through the development of permanent club works;
  • Attracting interest of students/schoolchildren schoolchildren of different schools, vulnerable children, representatives of ethnic minorities, Children With Special Needs in public activities through the implementation/planning community activities.

Similar program is being held additionally in four countries (Romania, Macedonia, Moldavia, Armenia, Great Britain).  Though, according to the international experts’ evaluation, program became more efficient due to the regular works and supplementary community initiatives in Georgia in terms of civic and inclusive education.

According to the statistical data, number of vulnerable participants increase day by day. Students of Ilia State University and Batumi Rustaveli State University are involved in the program.
