Minister of Education and Science Mr. Dimitri Shashkini visited Tbilisi №202 Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children and presented the gifts to those schoolchildren who spend their holidays at the school. At the same time, Minister awarded the school with the Norwegian government present- special apparatus for visually impaired children. This equipment is adapted to needs of any child and offers diverse options such as text zooming, color changing and many others. Visually handicapped children were also provided with different types of magnifiers. With the support of Norwegian government, similar apparatus will be delivered to every inclusive school throughout Georgia.
Minister and other representatives of the Ministry pay quite a few visits to the Special Educational institutions, №202 school is among those establishments. Few months ago Minister conferred the Braille Printing machine, Braille textbooks and learning materials to this school. At the same time, Ministry trained the teachers of this school so that they could better apply modern technical facilities in a learning process.
Up to 50 schoolchildren study at Tbilisi №202 Boarding School for Blind and Visually Impaired Children, among them - 23 use boarding school service. The school is actively involved in community activities and is committed to social adaptation of its schoolchildren. Schoolchildren actively participate in National Educational Olympiad; the graduates of this school also successfully pass National Entry Examinations. Exam preparation materials are adapted to Braille font.
