14 teachers of Physics from Tbilisi and regional schools will take internship at CERN research laboratory in Switzerland.

European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) is one of the biggest laboratories for Particle Physics throughout the world. Ministry’s National Center for Teacher Professional Development in collaboration with CERN experts, has elaborated special internship program for Georgian teachers. Within the scope of this program, teachers will attend lectures provided by Theoretical and Experimental Physics department, participate in the seminar on Particle Physics and Cosmology, visit ATLAS center and get familiar with ongoing researches and experiments at CERN.

Based on the acquired knowledge and experience at CERN, these teachers will organize trainings in Physics for other teachers of Physics throughout Georgia.

According to Minister Shashkini, popularization of Natural Sciences subjects and development of technical fields are one of the priorities of ministry and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will continue expanding similar programs for teacher professional development in the future.

To promote development of Natural Sciences subjects and technical fields, currently, ministry implements the following activities: supplying schools with Natural Sciences labs, encouraging teachers to actively apply virtual labs in the learning process, making scientific popular films, training the Natural Sciences subject teachers.

Furthermore, on the initiative of the President of Georgia, ministry also plans to organize various competitions at schools.
