First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Akaki Sepherteladze attended a first dance lesson at Tbilisi public school №64. Piloting of dance lessons began in all schools of Tbilisi from January 2011. From 2011-2012 academic year, dance lesson will be integrated into the national curriculum as a compulsory discipline at 4th grade in all general educational institutions throughout Georgia.
Georgian dance lessons program was developed by the working group of Ministry’s National Curriculum and Assessment Center. Field experts also participated in elaborating the program:
National Curriculum and Assessment Center’s expert in music, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Rusudan Takaishvili coordinated the activity of the experts.
Field specialists and experts think that a new subject will contribute to a harmonious development of the schoolchildren.
