Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini and Tbilisi City Assembly Vice chairman Mamuka Akhvlediani opened a modern canteen at Tbilisi Public School#1 with the Representatives of “Gogli Mogli” Company.

Refurbishing of the school canteens started last year at several pilot schools within the scope of the Safe and Healthy school program, this process is also underway in this academic year. Gogli Mogli Company renovated the canteens and furnished them with modern technical equipments. This company operates in 8 schools of Tbilisi as it takes care of supplying the canteens with fresh and healthy food.

For the first time in Georgia, schoolchildren use electronic cards at school canteens.  Liberty Bank provided the schoolchildren with the electronic cards free of charge. Parents deposit money on these cards and students can use this amount only at school canteen.

To ensure safety of schoolchildren, cash flow at schools was prohibited and electronic cards were introduced. This is a one of important components of the Safe School Program and aims at providing violence free and healthy environment at schools.
