Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary: H.E. Mr. Eric Fournier awarded Higher Education Institutions’ professors with “Ordre des Palmes Académiques”. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nodar Surguladze took part in the awarding ceremony.
Nominees for the “Ordre des Palmes Académiques” award were: Sibila Geladze, Associated Professor at the Humanitarian Faculty of Tbilisi State University, French language expert at the National Curriculum and Assessment Center under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, winner of “Gala” prize for the best translation in year 2009. Vaja Tskhovrebashvili, Head of Mari Brose French-Georgian School, Doctor in Chemistry, Head of Educational Process Division of Natural Sciences Faculty at Tbilisi State University. Ketevan Jashi, Professor at the Faculty of Science and Art at Ilia University, the member of Linguistic Research Group at the Sorbonne University, interpreter. Mzagho Dokhturishvili, professor at the Faculty of Science and Art at Ilia University, head of Ilia University Research Center, representative of Georgia at the International Council of Francophone Researches and Association of Humanitarian Science Faculty.
“Ordre des Palmes Académiques” is the state award of France. The “Ordre des Palmes Académiques” comprises three grades: Commandeur (Commander) Officier (Officer) and Chevalier (Knight). Citizens of France and other countries are awarded with this prize for the special service in the development of French language and culture.
