Within the scope of the “Week of Occupation”, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Koka Sepherteladze introduced the documentary film “Soviet Story” directed by Latvian director Edvins Snore to the students of Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Member of European parliament Girts Valdis Kristovskis and Inese Vaidere came up with the idea to create this film. The film compares Soviet regime and Nazi Germany by featuring symbols, ideology and mass destruction means of these regimes.
Unique archive documents, exclusive images and video footings are used in the film, it also features interviews with the famous professors and historians among them are : Norman Davies, Volodimir Sergiychuk, Boris Sokolov, Natalia Lebedev; member of European parliament - Ari Vatanen, former Soviet Colonel Vladimer Karpov, Alexander Guryanov, member of Memorial Society, Moscow.
After screening of the film a discussion was held with a participation of students and lecturers.
