An American Teacher Speaks about a Learning Process in Georgia

While native English speakers are coming to Georgia the other  foreigner volunteers who already live here, are talking about  Georgian hospitality and the success of “Teach and learn with Georgia”. One of them is 25 years old Robert Calica from California. He  lives  and teaches in Sighnaghi region in the public school of Jugaani. The magazine “way” publishes interview with him.

In interview Calica talks about a learning process, Georgian hospitality and about his childhood.He talks about how hard it was for him to get diploma. Finally, his education which costs  20 000 $ in United States, gives him a right to teach English.

“Teachers in Georgia have a good grammar knowledge, they can explain lessons well and also have a good vocabulary but there are  some problems in pronunciation, but I think they will improve it  after one year practice. What about  learning process, from 30 schoolchildren there are 10 or more who listens and do what you say” – Says native English speaker teacher in interview.

At this time Robert Calica is sure that the period spent in Georgia will be useful not for only Jugaani public school, also for him.

“ I believe that Georgia will become stronger in  relationship with my country United States of America.  Nowadays Georgian people  don’t have a job, but there future is very serious and perspective.  I will always remember the days spent in warm Georgian family, the way to school and if I have a chance I will come back after five-six years to see you and ask how are you Georgians? I will always remember one wonderful story which called Georgia “ - Says native English speaker teacher in interview.

The host family of Calica says that living with him was very important for their children to study English.
