Georgian Scientist at CERN Giorgi Dvali held a seminar in Physics for the teachers of Physics at Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze attended the seminar.

Giorgi Dvali obtained his first academic degree in Tbilisi; currently he is a professor of Theoretical Physics at New York University and Munich University. In 2001, Giorgi Dvali was awarded with New York Mayer‘s special prize for his remarkable achievements in Science and Technology.

The seminar held at the Ministry was a follow up to the internship of Georgian teachers in Switzerland. On January 14, 2011, 14 Georgian teachers of Physics took an internship in Particle Physics at CERN research laboratory in Switzerland. The topics of the first seminar were Particle Physics and Cosmology. Within the scope of the internship, Georgian teachers also got familiar with the ongoing researches and experiments at CERN.

 Ministry’s National Center for Teachers’ Professional Development plans to invite other scientists at CERN. The cycle of the seminars will be continued in the future to enhance teachers’ professional development and they will be hosted by scientists in different fields.
