Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini visited IT Vocational Education Center. The Center implements only IT vocational programs: Web-media Technologies, Computer Networks and Systems, Electronic and Telecommunications Networks.
Apart from the vocational educational programs, the college also offers other short term programs, the programs’ length are from 2 months to 2 years.
Up to 3000 persons undertook training programs for the last 3 years, employability rate of the graduates equals to 52%-75% depending on concrete program.
The campus of the center was fully rehabilitated by the Ministry. There are 10 computer classes and 7 specialized laboratories; the center also has a virtual library. Distance learning system Moodle also operates at this vocational college, which comprises both tests and learning materials, any interested person can register in the system. International learning and certification centers also function in the center on the basis of CISCO and Microsoft.
IT vocational College actively cooperates with the following companies: Magticom, Alta, Orient Logic, United Telecom, InfoGeorgiaXXI, UGT, UNIT, IT Service, Siesta, students take internship in these companies and afterwards successful candidates get employed.
The Center coordinated setting up a web portal which serves as a unified information area for all vocational colleges in Georgia. Students’ electronic registration system was also introduced.
Students of this vocational college take part in international contests and Olympiads. The college won the first prize in NETRiders Olympiad held in 2009. The center regularly organizes trainings for teaches, learning materials are also upgraded. In the beginning of the April, the college plans to organize the employment forum for graduates.
