The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia Armen Ashotyan and the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Philip Dimitrov participated in the opening of the South Caucasus Youth Parliament.
The event was organized in the framework of the EU funded project “Democracy Starts with You” the Students of Armenia and Georgia participated in the South Caucasus Youth Parliament.
The South Caucasus School of Political Studies and the Ministers of Education and Science of Georgia and Armenia supported the unique idea of gathering 40 students (twenty students from each country) as a South Caucasus Youth Parliament.
The participating students were elected some weeks ago by their class-mates after having all together finished a 4-day exercise on debating relevant political issues at school level. Now their task will be to bring the issues from their call-room into the South Caucasus Youth Parliament and agree with their young peers on a joint declaration which will later be presented to the European Institutions in Brussels.
20 schools from Azerbaijan took part into the first stage of the project “Democracy Starts with You!”. Unfortunately, the elected students were not able to participate into the South Caucasus Youth Parliament”.
