Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini attended the ceremony of laying the foundation of a new campus of the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy.
“Lisi Development“Company undertakes the construction of the modern students’ campus on the territory of the Lisi Lake.
Innovative ecological solutions will be applied in the construction of a green building; energy saving methods and materials will be also used including natural heating, geothermal heating, special controlling systems. The new building area will be of 4 thousand square meter and up to 280 schoolchildren will study there. The construction of the campus will be finished by October, 2012.
American Academy was founded in 2001 in Tbilisi by Guivy Zaldastanishvili, Georgian businessman. The Academy is now completing its tenth year. It has 290 alums, attending colleges and universities throughout the US, the UK, Europe, and in Tbilisi, at institutions like Harvard, West Point, Middlebury, Williams, WPI, Bard, American University in Paris, CEU, Bocconi, and St. Andrews University in Scotland.
By the announcement of the Minister Shashkini, in the context of the healthy competition, presence of successful private schools makes the country even stronger. The Ministry actively cooperates with the private schools and stands ready to support their further development.
