03.02.2010
President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili presented the Alumni Club project at the First Experimental School. The project was initiated by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini. The President will grant his salary to the First Experimental and # 52 Public Schools where he received education. The President called to other government officials for participating in the development of their schools.

The Alumni is a successful project in Western European countries and the United States. It is targeted at establishing successful “graduate clubs” at schools, members of which actively participate in the development of their schools.

During the meeting, the President also talked about increasing the importance of the high school diploma, passing 10 exams at the 12-th grade, teaching Civil Defense and Safety, Golden Medal awards and other initiatives within the framework of the second phase of the education reform in Georgia. Due to the President’s decision, the original name “the First Experimental School” was returned to the # 189 Public School.
