For the first time this year, the twelfth graders take exams in the format of the CAT system with the computers. The exams are held in 8 subjects: Georgian Language and Literature, Foreign Languages (upon choice); Math, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

School leaving exams are organized at 1520 public and private schools of Georgia. Ethnic minority schoolchildren take exams in their own native languages.

Exams are carried out in the format of Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT).  CAT system is adapted to the capacity of each schoolchild. This testing method is widely acknowledged in the world; nevertheless, Georgia is the first country that holds the exams with the use of CAT format in a centralized manner. 

The rights of each schoolchild are equally protected. All of them take exams simultaneously at their own schools. Each exam lasts a day and is organized in several sessions. The CAT algorithm assess the knowledge of the schoolchildren individually, some students can be evaluated within 15 minutes, while others might take more time to complete the tasks.  Duration of each exam is 1.40 minutes.

Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and National Examinations Center have been undertaking the preparatory works for the exams for the whole year: “Abituri hours “ have been introduced at schools, which gave the schoolchildren opportunity to get prepared for each exam;  all schools have been provided with internet access and have been supplied with the computers and modern technical facilities,  IT specialists have been selected based on the open competition , they provide a technical support to the exams.

Proceeding of the exams is monitored at every school of Georgia with the help of the Information – Technical center operating at the Ministry.

Additionally, Ministry has also taken other relevant measures to protect the interest and rights of the students.
