President of Georgia Awarded the Best School Graduates

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met those school graduates who have showed the best results in every subject of the school leaving exams. The President congratulated the graduates on their accomplishments, wished them success and presented them with the personal computers. The top hundred school graduates are from Tbilisi and regional schools of Georgia.

This year, up to 50 000 schoolchildren took the school leaving exams. 30% of the school graduates showed a high level of knowledge at the exams; 5% out of them - got the highest grades.

The President positively assessed proceeding and the outcomes of the school leaving exams.

School leaving exams was organized in the format of Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). The exams were held at the examinations centers of 1520 schools across Georgia. Eight-day-long exam process was carried out without complications as a result of the complex measures taken by the Ministry.

CAT format exams were organized for the first time in Georgia. Such exams have not been carried out nowhere in the world on such a scale. Georgian scientists developed the algorithm of this model which was applied in the exams. The foreign experts got interested in the Georgian experience and started to work on introducing CAT format exams in their countries' education system.    

The exams were held in 8 subjects: Georgian Language and Literature, Foreign Languages (upon choice); Math, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The first exam was organized in Georgian Language and Literature on May 23 and the last one was held on June 1 in Math. Ethnic minority schoolchildren took exams in their own native languages.
