Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini, as entrusted by the President of Georgia, awarded the successful staff members of the Ministry with Medals of Honor. Medal of Honors were conferred to Giorgi Gulua, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency under Ministry and Irakli Andriashvili, Head of Internal Audit Department of the Ministry. Minister thanked them for their accomplishments and talked about their achievements.
Under the supervision of Giorgi Gulua, student management information system was set up for the first time in Georgia. All schools have access to this system and it is used for registration of the first graders, administration of school students’ mobility and management of the process of providing the socially vulnerable schoolchildren with the textbooks. Mr. Gulua and his team also provided a technical assistance to 2011 school graduation exams.
CAT exams were held for the first time in Georgia this year, which was unprecedented in terms of its scale and significance. In order to ensure a smooth administration of these exams, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency supervised a process of providing the schools with the proper infrastructure and an access to internet. A competition was also announced to select IT specialists to be involved in a process of providing technical support to the school graduation exams The exams were observed from the Data Processing Center, the central server which collected information on the proceeding of the exams at all schools of Georgia, operated without delay.
Mr. Irakli Andriashvili, Head of Internal Audit Department of the Ministry was awarded for successfully dealing the cases of overcoming corruption at educational institutions, preventing and detecting of any misbehavior in the system, as well as for adequately assessing the risks of the Ministry. Internal Audit Department regularly processes various complaints and reacts to them in a timely manner.
According to the Minister, professional and responsible staff members positively contribute to a successful implementation of the education reform.
