Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia announces a competition on textbooks’ approval. In regard to this, First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze and Director of National Curriculum and Assessment Center, Natia Jokhladze held a briefing.

Competition is announced for all subjects at basic and secondary level and for several textbooks at primary level. Approved textbooks will be valid for 5 years. Legal and physical entities can take part in the contest. Applications shall be submitted from February 1^st 2012 to March 1^st 2012.

The approved textbooks should meet the requirements of National Curriculum methodologically and technically, they should be written in a modern literary language and be also easily comprehensible for the school students. The content of the textbooks such as texts, illustrations, maps, audio material should feature the peculiarities of the school student’s age and meet the demands of all technical parameters determined by the Textbook Approval Rules.

At primary education level, the competition is announced for the following subjects: Sports (I-IX grades); Georgian Dance (IV grade); IT technologies (1st grade).

As to the VII-XII grades, the textbooks competition is open for the following mandatory subjects: Georgian Language and Literature (VII-XII grades); Math (VII-XII grades); Introduction to Natural Sciences (VII grade); Biology (VII-XI grades); Physics (VII-XI grades), Chemistry (VII-XI grades); Foreign Languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish and Russian); History (VII-XII grades); Geography (VII-XI grades); Civil Education  (IX-X grades); Civil Protection and Safety ( VII-XII grades); Traffic Signs and Road Safety ( XI grades); Fine and Applied Arts (VII-IX grades); Music (VII-IX grades); and in the following selective courses: World Culture( X, XI or XII grades) and Drawing ( X, XI or XII grades).
