Deputy Minister Giorgi Chakhnashvili held a briefing in regard to the netbooks which are delivered as presents to the first graders.
All first graders of public schools of Georgia received the netbook as a present from the President of Georgia. Some political parties have spread information that netbook was not the property of the schoolchildren and the parents had to pay the penalty in the amount of 700 GEL in case of its damage.
At the briefing, Deputy Minister emphasized that the netbook is a present and is the property of the schoolchild. Last year, the program of delivering the netbook to the first graders was piloted in some schools. There were cases, when some parents registered their kids at public schools and after receiving the netbooks they had taken them to the private schools. Therefore, this year, the following restriction was set: in case parents decide to take their kids from public to private schools within the period of three years, the netbooks will remain at schools.
Mr. Giorgi Chakhnashvili also noted that the netbbooks are made in Georgia and in case of their damage parents can take computers to the factory “Algoritmi” and get them repaired without any charge.
