International Scientific Conference – Georgia Heritage Abroad

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation organized another international scientific conference. The conference was held in the National Center for Manuscripts over a 4 day period. The topics of the conference included: Georgian historical territories abroad; Georgian monasteries abroad; Georgian manuscripts; and archival heritage.

 

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze, and the General Director of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, Sulkhan Sisauri, opened the conference. During his opening speech, Sulkhan Sisauri underlined the importance of conducting research on Georgian heritage abroad. Thanks to an initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation is carrying out a grant contest in the field of research on Georgian heritage abroad.

70 Georgian and Foreign scientists took part in the conference. Researchers from Great Britain, Austria, Norway, Holland, Turkey, and Iran made presentations on Georgian material and cultural heritage abroad.

International Scientific conference is organized in the scope of the grant contest conducted by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation.
