A Model Lesson was held for prospective mentor teachers in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. First Deputy Minister Koka Sepherteladze and Director of the National Center for Teacher Professional Development, Gia Mamulashvili, observed the lessons proceedings.
The model lesson was conducted in English, and the invited teachers from various public schools of Georgia had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the methodology and teaching approaches used by mentor teachers.
The first round of the contest of mentor teachers is already finished. Now contestants will be required to pass an interview, during which they will have to present a scheme of the model lesson.
Mentor teachers will receive and additional 160 GEL to their monthly salary. At the same time, mentor teachers will be able to accumulate credits in the frame of the teacher professional development scheme.
Mentor teacher program has been operating for two years. This year, it has been introduced in more than ten regions of Georgia. Mentor teachers can work in Tbilisi, Gori, Telavi, Akhaltsikhe, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Poti, Ozurgeti and Rustavi Schools.
