The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze, attended the celebration of 180^th Anniversary of Akhaltsikhe Public School №1 and presented personal computers to two successful schoolchildren of the school.

At Akhaltsikhe School №1, the 100^th anniversary of the death of a famous scientist, public figure, and alumni of the school, Mikhel Tamarashvili, was also celebrated. As a part of the event, a commemorative plaucqe to Mikheil Tamarashvili was set on permanent display.

Akhaltsikhe Public School №1 was founded in 1831. Now it is almost 2 centuries old, and many famous public figures have received their education within its walls.

As part of the event,  Akhaltsikhe State University organized a conference discussing the works of Mikheil Tamarashvili. The celebration was closed with a concert at the Meskheti State Theatre.

This event was organized with support of local and regional municipalities.
