№51 Public School has reassumed its former name

Tbilisi №51 Public School has reassumed name of Galaktion Tabidze. The school regained its historical title with support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Tbilisi City Council. In this regard the school held events dedicated to Galaktion Tabidze 120th anniversary, which was attended by the First Deputy Minister, Akaki Seperteladze, head of Tbilisi City Hall, Zaal Samadashvili, head of the division of social service and culture of Tbilisi City Hall, Mamuka Katsarava and other respected guests.

Presentation of the school’s new emblem and anthem and bronze statue of Galaktion Tabidze by Bidziana Avalishvili as well as classroom of Galaction Tabidze was held in the framework of the events.

Significantly, English translation of poems by Galaktion Tabidze and other Georgian poets done by the President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili in his 9th grade are kept at №51 Public School. The famous academician, Maka Chkheidze has evaluated work of Mikheil Saakashvili as follows: “Such sound, pulse, rhythm and tempo are very rare in translations.

Students of №51 Public School and famous actors participated in the party, which was held in the end of the event dedicated to the 120th anniversary of greatest Georgian poet Galaktion Tabidze.
