The Minister, Dimitri Shashkini met the teachers that are involved in the program “Georgian Language for Future Success”.
The program “Georgian Language for Future Success” started in September 2011, by the initiative of the President. The aim of the program is to improve the knowledge of Georgian language among the ethnic minorities living in Georgia.
In the scope of the program, 150 native speaker teachers are teaching Georgian language in the schools of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti. Recently, 160 teachers have been recruited to the program. These teachers have gone through two rounds of the contest: a written test and an interview.
Before leaving for regions, the teachers passed the special trainings. While conducting Georgian language lessons, the program participants co-teach with local teachers of the Georgian language and assist the teachers of other subjects to deliver classes bilingually. The teachers participating in the program live in host families. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will fund M.A studies of B.A participants of the program based on their one year work experience at the schools of the mentioned regions.
The newly selected participants of the program will commence their activities from the second semester.
Volunteer native Georgian teachers will be working in all non-Georgian schools.
Georgian citizens, who are holding the BA degree, were eligible to participate in the “Georgian Language for Future Success” program.
