At a seminar, organized in Bakuriani, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Chakhnashvili held a working meeting with 100 School Resource Officers of Tbilisi. The Deputy Minister summarized the previous year's activities of the Office of Resource Officers and positively evaluated SROs work.
During the meeting with Resource Officers, the Deputy Minister talked to the audience about current reforms of the education system and 2012'a strategic plan. Giorgi Chakhnashvili underlined the importance of the Safe School Concept and talked about the role of Resource Officers in its implementation.
Currently, 1,500 Resource Officers are working in schools throughout Georgia. From 1 March 2012, 150 SROs will stationed in schools of 24 towns (Tskaltubo, Samtrerdia, Gurjaani, Kareli, Ozurgeti, Akhaltsikhe, Dusheti, Lanchkhuti, Terjola, Zestaphoni, Tsalenjikha, Senaki, Abasha, Bordjomi, Kvareli, Chokhatauri, Kobuleti, Kaspi, Dedoplistskaro, Mtskheta, Tchiatura, Khashuri, Martvili, Telavi). In 2012, Georgian Office of Resource Officers will become a member of the National Association of School Resource Officers.
