The ceremony was held in the United States' Capitol Building, and Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) hosted the signing of this agreement.
The document was signed by the Head of the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions, Zviad Khidisheli, and NASRO Executive Director, Mo Canady. Mr. Mo Canady presented the Minister with the certificate of the NASRO membership.
NASRO is a nonprofit organization for school-based law enforcement officers, school administrators, and safety professionals who work to protect students, school faculty and staff. The institution organizes conferences and seminars on the activities of school resource officers in the US.
Last year, the delegation of the NASRO visited Georgia to familiarize themselves with the activities of the Georgian office of the Resource Officers and to establish ties with the Georgian SROs. NASRO was represented by its executive director and members of the board of directors, who had an opportunity to meet with the officials of different state agencies and ministries; the delegation members visited schools, the teacher’s house, and the police academy.
NASRO members positively assessed the activities of the Georgian school resource officers and made a decision to offer the Office of the Resource Officers a membership to the NASRO.
