Governmental agencies become involved in students’ employment program

Georgian governmental organizations and agencies are becoming involved in the students’ employment project initiated by MES, “Summer Jobs,” during the summer holidays.

Today, Minister, Dimitri Shashkini, introduced a new program to Tbilisi Mayor, Gigi Ugulava, the Head of the Administration of the President, David Tkeshelashvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vera Kobalia, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, Ramaz Nikoleishvili, the Minister of Agriculture,  Zaza Gorozia, the Minister of Culture, Nika Rurua, the Deputy Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Irakli  Nadareishvili, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Giorgi Vashadze, and a member of parliament, Giorgi Meladze.

The working meeting was also attended by the rector of Tbilisi State University, Alexandre Kvitashvili, the rector of Georgian Technical Univeristy, Archil Prangishvili, the rector of Ilia State Uiversity, Gigi Tevzadze, Chairman of Supervisory Board of Free University, Kakha Bendukidze, the rector of State Medical University, Zurab Vadachkoria and the rector of Agrarian University, Lasha Gotsiridze.

The Ministers and other members of the cabinet expressed their readiness to participate in the project and provide MES information about job announcements as well as the terms and conditions associated with them.

As part of the students’ employment project during the summer holidays, 25,000 Bachelor candidates, including levels II-IV, will be involved in the project throughout Georgia. Students will receive monthly allowance in the range of 500 GEL. Young people will fill in various low grade working positions at State Institutions, in the Private Sector, Legal Companies, Museums, Hospitals, governmental bodies, etc…

Overall number of proposed vacancies will reach 70, encompassing various fields.
 
The project “Summer Job” aims to facilitate students’ qualification enhancement and capacity development in the fields they are seeking for employment in the future. Additionally, earned income will aid them in funding their own education or enable them to save some for travel, vacations, etc…The main purpose is to provide students the opportunity to make the most of their summer vocation. Student employment programs such as this are being introduced and developed in other Western Countries.
