The President emphasized the students’ employment program for the summer holidays, “Summer Jobs”, which aims to employ 25,000 students from around the country during the summer holidays, from 20 July to 20 August. Students will be employed for a period of 1 month and will receive a monthly allowance of approximately 500GEL. The jobs students may participate involve work in about 70 different fields. The list of proposed options include: state agencies, business and non-governmental sector, legal companies, museums, hospitals, self-government institutions and etc…The project is being implemented in close cooperation with Georgian Chamber of Commerce and will continue in the future as well.
The best students will be encouraged to attend international summer camps, which will annualy host thousands of excellent students from Georgia.
Students are also presented with opportunity to take MA courses at world leading universities in the framework of the DRF program. For the 2011-2012 academic year, priorities were assigned to the following fields: engineering, IT, exact and natural sciences, and architecture. Every Georgian citizen with a BA degree who is younger than 40 can participate in the project. Tuition and accommodation expenses will be fully covered by the Georgian government.
Along with students’ employment and encouragement, the number one priority for the country is the development of higher educational infrastructure and the introduction of modern education. The establishment of Batumi Technological University, for example serves to educate a new generation of students in technological disciplines, IT, and engineering.
The University will be equipped with the most recent equipment and infrastructure available. For the aforementioned reason MES continues cooperation with US leading Universities. Batumi Technological University will issue BA, MA and PhD diplomas in the future. The diplomas issued by Technological University will be internationally recognized. Such a progressive university has no precedence in Post-Soviet countries.
The development of
informational technologies is very crucial and students play a leading role in
these processes. All higher educational institutions will be equipped with Wi-Fi internet connestions. Every student will have
access to wireless internet in order to deepen his/her knowledge.
