Minister held a working meeting with school principals

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, held a working meeting with the principals of Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi public schools at the Teachers’ House. The Minister discussed issues of 1st grader registration. high school exit exams, and school infrastructure rehabilitation.

In 2011, the regestration of 1st graders in schools changed. It has become more transparent and available for everyone. For the first time in Georgia, the exact timeline for 1st graders enrolment has been determined. This year, for the first time, online registration of 1st graders is available. All registered 1st graders will be presented with net-books on September 15.

During the meeting, the Minister talked about the High School Exit Exams. Last year, for the first time, the exit exams were carried out with Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT). This year, the exit exams will be implemented without any changes. School students will take computer exams at their schools in 8 subjects. The minimum competency level still remains the same.

The issue of school infrastructure rehabilitation was also discussed at the meeting. The Ministry will continue implementing rehabilitation work at public schools throughout Georgia.
