The program “Georgian Language for Future Success” began in September 2011 by the initiative of the President. The aim of the program is to improve the knowledge of Georgian language among the ethnic minorities living in Georgia. In the scope of the program, 300 native speaker teachers are teaching Georgian language in the schools of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti.
Before leaving for the regions, the teachers passed special trainings. While conducting Georgian language lessons, the program participants co-teach with local teachers of the Georgian language and assist the teachers of other subjects to deliver classes bilingually.
Manuals (I-IV levels) have been also developed specially for the program. These handbooks have been elaborated with consultation of experts and are based on modern methodologies of language instruction. The manuals are accompanied by audio-visual aids.
The teachers participating in the program live in host families and teach Georgian to family members. Participants also conduct extracurricular activities.
Georgian citizens, who hold a BA degree, are eligible to participate in the “Georgian Language for Future Success” program. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will fund the M.A studies of participants of the program based on their one year work experience at the schools of the mentioned regions. The participants can also take teacher certification exams.
