№173 Public School was given the name of the Hero

Tbilisi №173 Public School was given the name of the Hero, Vakhtang Gzirishvili, who deceased in Russian-Georgian War. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and the representatives of Georgian Armed Forces have unveiled the Memorial, dedicated to this specific fact. On the same day, V. Gzirishvili Square was opened in №173 Public School, where the guests planted trees to pay tribute to the fallen soldier.

Vakhtang Gzirishvili fought in Tskhinvali region. He passed away during accomplishment of his task. He was awarded V. Gorgasali Medal of Honor. Vakhtang would have celebrated his 24th birthday on April 23.

Senior students of №173 Public school presented musical-literary composition, dedicated to the memory of Vakhtang Gzirishvili and other fallen soldiers fighting next to him in Russian-Georgian War in 2008. They have recalled life episodes of Vakhtang Gzirishvili and his peers and staged some of them. Vakhtan Gzirishvili’s mother has also attended the event.
