President observed renovated State Agricultural University of Georgia

President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili visited State Agricultural University of Georgia, observed modern labs and stressed the huge importance of Agriculture Education in the future development of the country’s Agriculture. During his visit President has announced a new initiative regarding introduction of a specific student’s card. All students will receive special student’s card from May 20, 2012 with travel and shopping discount benefits. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has already been working on the design of the Student’s Card.
Agriculture, Engineering, Exact and Natural Sciences are priority directions identified by the Government of Georgia, thus great attention is paid to the personnel professional development. For the reason, new curriculum was designed at State Agricultural University along with rehabilitation of the existing labs and training facilities.
Currently 2500 students study at the University. Students’ interest has been drastically, 7 times increased towards Agricultural and Technical directions since 2012 resulting in augmented number of 40 for one spot for the faculty of Agriculture and 36 candidates for the faculty of Engineering and Technology.
There are 3 main directions at the University- Agro technological: Viticulture, Agronomy, Forestry, Food Technology, Veterinary and Zootechnics specialties along with Engineering and Technological specialties in the direction of Electro Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Construction and Agricultural Engineering and the third direction of Business Administration.
All labs and training facilities of the University have been rehabilitated that amount to total cost of 4 million U.S. Dollars. Training labs have been equipped with modern equipment, where students are able to conduct practical applications. Equipment of the labs is in progress.
Training inventory has been renewed in the University; projectors, elevators, movement control lightning systems, air conditioners have been installed; newly arranged modern examination center has been equipped with video cameras, high frequency wave suppression and phone jamming systems. Electronic library has been arranged at the University. All students have free access to Wi-Fi with the University.
Construction of Experimental Mechanics factory is on the way where young engineers will be able to receive practical knowledge of the field. Two new labs will be opened especially for smart and intelligent students where they will be presented with a wonderful opportunity to do researches and work on inventions. The best Veterinary Clinic in the Caucasus will be designed for Smart Students which will be equipped with the most modern equipment for animal diagnostics, such as digital X-ray, animal computer tomography that is unique characteristic for the Veterinary Clinic. Brewery plant is under construction, where students will be able to brew wine, champaign, cognac, vodka, beer and lemonade. The University has been developing special training-scientific bases, where students can practice and scientist can make their experiments.
New University Town has been constructed in the University Campus for students, lecturers and citizens with law income. It is planned to construct City-House type settlements characteristic to USA.
