A new waive of vocational students will start their studies from May 7

The voucher funding system has been introduced in vocational education this year, by the initiative of the President. 

From 2012, all citizens of Georgia who want to master new profession at vocational college will be provided with voucher of 1000 GEL.

The students from socially vulnerable families received funding in the first place; from May 7th, up to 2000 students will commence their studies at 15 vocational colleges.

Today, the Minister Dimitri Shashkini and the governor of Imereti region, Lasha Makatsaria visited a vocational college” Iberia” in Kutaisi.  As a part of the above mentioned initiative, 360 students will start their studies and pursue various specialties from May 7th at “Iberia”.

The Minister Shashkini also visited the workshops and performed those works that will be completed by the prospective craftsmen.

Overall, 7000 persons will be trained in the scope of a new program. Along with the persons from socially vulnerable families, funding will be provided to those school students who complete the basic or secondary level of education and decide to pursue a vocational education.
