Today Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini and Ministry of Health and Labor Zurab Tchiaberashvili met with students at vocational college “Ikarosi”. On May 7, 300 socially vulnerable students started studying at “Ikarosi”.
The vocational college “Ikarosi” trains professionals in the following specialization: cook, barman, waiter, receptionist, hotel booking, also specialists in the art of cuisine, restaurant and hotel businesses. Graduates of the college are employed at different hotels like “Tbilisi Marriott”, “Sheraton”, “Radisson” as well as at restaurants.
This year, for the first time, the state has disbursed 7 million GEL for voucher based financing, which will enable 7,000 individuals to study, work, become professionals, and find employment. Students from socially vulnerable families and active 9th and 12th graders, who have decided to proceed with their education at vocational educational institutions, will be fully financed.
