On May 7th, students benefiting from 1,000 GEL vouchers began studying
at modern Poti Vocational Education Center “Phazisi”. 48 of them are refugees
and 20 of them are socially vulnerable and, therefore, received 1,000 GEL
voucher.
Today,
the Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation
and Refugees of Georgia, Koba Subeliani, and the Deputy Minister of Education
and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Chakhnashvili, met with the refugee and socially
vulnerable students of Poti Vocational Center and visited educational
workshops.
“Phazisi” trains students in
specialties in the service, construction and tourism fields: engine repairman,
highway construction workers, plaster
specialist, welder, restaurant manager, plumber, electrician, tailor, metal
smith, mason, blacksmith, guide, tour operator, baker, etc.
By the
President’s initiative, for the first time this year, Vocational Education
Centers are funded with vouchers. The government funds all candidates who are
willing to continue studying at Vocational Education Center with vouchers. Under the new project, socially vulnerable
students receive preferential funding.
