The first day of the high school exams was a success

The Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini, the director of the National Examinations Center, Maia Miminoshvili and the head of EMIS, Giorgi Gulua summed up a first day of the high school leaving exams. 

The first exam was conducted in Georgian Language and literature, compared to previous year, the average score of the exam is higher (8 point).

Only 10% of the non-Georgian schoolchildren were not able to cross the minimum competency level. This means that the “Georgia for Future Success” program, initiated by the President proved to be productive.

The exam process went without complications. The Minister thanked all coworkers involved in the administering of the examinations process, as well as the representatives of other public agencies involved in it, including the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Protection, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Ministry of Internal Affairs.

High school leaving exams 2011-2012 started today at 9 am in more than 1600 schools of Georgia with the exam in Georgian Language and Literature. Tomorrow, they will take an exam in foreign language.

CAT system is adapted to the capacity of each schoolchild. This testing method is widely acknowledged in the world; nevertheless, Georgia is the first country that holds the exams with the use of CAT format in a centralized manner. 

The preparatory works has been undertaken by MES together with the NAEC, the process is being closed observed by the Minister, Deputy Minister and other MES officials.

All schools throughout Georgia have been technically prepared for High School Leaving Exams. Schools had been equipped with 1500 School Boxes and  11 000 modern computers. The IT specialists had been trained respectively. The schoolchildren had opportunity to take “ Abituri Hours”.

Organizational group has been created at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia to handle the issues of High School Leaving and Unified National Exams. Organizational group’s composed of representatives of the Ministry of Health and Labor, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Ministry of Internal Affairs.
