The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is not planning to dismiss the teachers. This announcement was made by the Minister at the Teacher’s House while holding a meeting with the teachers.

According to the Minister, he regularly meets the teachers in the regions; during these meetings, some teachers express concerns about their alleged dismissal.

Mr. Dimitri Shashkini assured the teachers that no one was going to fire them. The school administration itself, concludes an agreement with the teachers. The Minister himself met the school principals and they did not confirm the information on the alleged dismissal of the teachers.

During the meeting, the Minister, reiterated that the certification process of the teachers is voluntary till 2014.  All teachers can retake the exams and obtain certificate afterwards, the exam results are not disclosed to a third person, the outcome will be reflected on the teachers’ salary only.

The Teachers House prepares the teachers for the certification exams, the trainings are being held in Tbilisi and Kutaisi and are offered free of charge. The training rooms are equipped with all necessary facilities.
