A three year Education Management
Project (EMP) project that aimed at increasing effectiveness of managing the
education system has been accomplished successfully. The project was
implemented by Chemonics
International, Inc and supported by USAID and Ministry of Education and
Science.
Summarizing conference was held on the
achievements and challenges of the mentioned project today in Marriott Courtyard.
Deputy Minister, Giorgi Chakhnashvili, Deputy Mission Director of USAID, Yokim
Parker, Vice President for Chemonics International Caucasus and Central Asia,
Emet Mohr took part in the event.
Several important projects have been
implemented as a part of EMP program:
- Principals of all public schools in
Georgia have been trained in school financing management and effective
leadership;
- Capacity of the ERC-s has been
increased to more effectively support the schools to manage the school
finances;
- A new school finance scheme has been
developed that envisages provision of equitable funding for all schoolchildren
in Georgia;
- Education Management Information system
of the Ministry has created the modules which
are capable of collecting and analyzing the data to enable data driven decision;
- School financial reporting system has
been developed together with school catalogue , geographic information system and
other relevant resources;
- A two year master’s degree program in
education administration has been established at Ilia University in cooperation
with California Los- Angeles University.
