A new examination model being worked out by the Strategic Board

A new examination model is being worked out in the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Today working group members of the Strategic board have discussed a new model of the unified national examination 8+1 initiated by the president of Georgia. The meeting was led by the Minister Shashkini.

Group of experts are expected to complete working on a new model in August. The new model will be tested in schools from August through December in the pilot mode. Versions of examination tests will be worked out along with identification of assessment criterions.

As announced, by the initiative of the president of Georgia, the new examination system will be introduced from 2013. Entrants will have to take school leaving exams in 8 subjects in addition with 1 exam in general abilities to be admitted to the higher educational institution. The group of experts has already been working on the new model. Today a special commission has started working on the new examination model. 

Per Minister’s announcement, every sound idea entertained by board members pertaining to any important issue of the education system is significant. On meetings like this decisions are made on the basis of mutual agreement and with consideration of suggestions of each board member.

The Strategic Board is composed of the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, rectors of the leading higher educational institutions and public and private school representatives. The commission will arrange future meetings with the aim to inform public about priorities identified in long term strategic plan.
