Davit Bakradze visited Kachreti Vocational College

Chairperson of Parliament of Georgia, Davit Bakradze, visited the vocational college “Aisi”, in Kachreti municipality and met those students who had commenced their studies in the institution as a part of a second phase of voucher funding system initiated by the President. 

 During the second phase, the Ministry will provide 1500 persons with a 1000 GEL voucher. 3rd phase of the vocational education financing will start in autumn, and 2500 volunteers will be granted with vouchers. Nowadays, 2500 students are studying at vocational colleges and 1700 of them are socially vulnerable.

Davit Bakradze talked to the students and their teachers; during the talk, the chairman of parliament highlighted the importance of presence of qualified workforce in order to combat the unemployment. 75% of the professional college graduates are being employed. A new model of vocational education funding will increase an access of socially vulnerable population to it and will further develop the field, remarked Davit Bakradze.

The state vouchers are provided to the persons who fall under the following categories:

  • socially vulnerable students, ( with social rate score 100000 and less);
  • Persons who have successfully completed the basic level of education in 2011-2012  and have not pursued further studies at school level;
  • Persons who have successfully completed a general level of education in 2011-2012  and have not got registered for the unified entry exams;
  • Any other persons who will be able to pass the test in general ability and cross minimum competency level;
  • Any interested persons who is willing to co-fund his/her studies (70%- state, 30%- students ) .

After meeting with the students and teachers, Davit Bakradze visited different shops located in the college and observed the learning process on site.

Following programs are carried out at Kachreti professional education and training centre: Master of agro-tourism, winemaker–winegrower, multi profile construction worker, carpenter-furniture maker, user and operator of the personal computer, technician-operator of informational technologies, metal craftsman of auto cars, vet, stylist, baby sitter, master of the healing flora cultivation, electrician, driver, farmer, handyman .

A new model of funding of vocational education has been activated since 2012 by the initiative of the President, 7 million GEL has been allocated from the budget of Georgian government for this purpose.
