Georgian and foreign scientists discussing image of Georgia as a country of ancient European identity

The first scientific conference was dedicated to the establishment and representation of Georgia as a country of ancient European identity.

The international conference was attended by the director of Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.


Georgian and foreign researchers have discussed the role of Georgian culture in the formation of European culture. During discussion, emphasizes have been laid on to the Greek sources, where Georgia is mentioned to be one of the ancient European countries with specific mission. The outstanding significance and scientific value of Georgian sources has been further elaborated.

60 scientists from more than 15 countries have been taking part in the three day scientific event. Researchers of different fields of Georgian studies will find communicated reports very interesting and engaging.

The international scientific conference has been funded in the frames of conference contest of Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. Planned events took place in the premises of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
