Educational Project with the Rotary Club
08.09.2012
The Rotary Club “Tbilisi International” was created in 2009, and today is a member of the World’s Rotary Clubs system, which is composed of more than 34,000 clubs. The aim of the movement is to participate in humanitarian activities throughout the world. The club was created to focus on assistance with education, health, the socially disabled, people with special needs, and homeless children.

English teacher Franklin Hockenbrocht arrived in Georgia in 2011. He is responsible for initiating this relatively young humanitarian project in the 109th Gldani state school, which is based in Tbilisi.

With assistance from the Ministry of Education and Science, according to the current priorities and amount of finances available, it was decided to purchase 130-140 new desks for the school. The project was held according to the principles of “grant matching,” and the Pennsylvania club added 10,000 USD to the project. This was collected by the Tbilisi Rotary Club, which in turn now plans to arrange more projects in the future.
