The Georgian president’s “Supporting Gifted and Talented Youth program” continues with the Ministry of Education and Science passing out gold and silver medals to excellent school-graduates. In 2012, 780 gold and 1041 silver medals will be given to graduates throughout Georgia, with the highest proportion of medal recipients from Tbilisi, Imereti and Adjara. Today, Education and Science Minister Khatia Dekanoidze personally awarded 300 more graduates gold medals and wished them much success in the future.
On September 3rd, award-winning graduates of Imereti were given medals for the 2011-2012 academic year, receiving 114 gold and 60 silver medals. Kvemo Kartli and Kaxeti were awarded medals too, with Kvemo Kartli receiving 41 gold and 52 silver medals, and Kaxeti boasting 75 gold and an impressive 190 silver medal winners. Additionally, students of Adjara today were awarded 111 gold and 102 silver medals.
The National Curriculum regulates the selection criteria for candidates. The gold and silver medals will be prepared for the 2011-2012 academic year’s “excellent school-graduates” and each medal will have the name of the owner and the year of graduation on it.
