The process of textbooks’ approval becomes more transparent and fair

Educational specialists working in non-governmental sector were involved in the process of textbooks’ approval. According to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, in a commission on textbooks’ approval non-governmental sector will be represented with a considerable proportion along with the representatives of the Ministry.

Second meeting was held on December 14th. The issues of approval of basic level Georgian language textbooks for non-Georgian schools/sectors were discussed in the framework of the meeting.

Starting from December 2012, textbooks’ approval commission includes representatives from the organizations such as: USAID, PH International, Institute of Education Policy Planning and Management, CTC (Consultation and Training Center), Organization “School, Family, Society” etc. The aim of setting up a commission with these representatives is to ensure principles of transparency and impartiality of decision-making.
