The role of libraries in school life is increasing. For the first time today, Deputy Minister Aluda Goglichidze held a meeting with up to 200 librarians of public schools and discussed vision of the Ministry on new activities of school libraries.

School libraries will have a function of cultural and educational centers along with their main function of developing literacy. They will have to be the initiators of educational conferences, in-school Olympiads, exhibitions of school students’ works, presentations of new projects etc. Libraries will be assisting students in developing and realization of creative skills.

Several schools made presentations on the activities of libraries. Head of National Scientific Library Irakli Gharibashvili and other representatives talked about the ongoing projects.

Deputy Minister Auda Goglichidze was informed on the existing problems and answered the questions from the librarians.
