Georgian Manuscript – on-line Encyclopedia

First on-line encyclopedia on Georgian manuscript culture was created. Presentation of the project was held at National Center of Manuscripts. The Encyclopedia about Georgian manuscript traditions can be found  on the following web-page: www.georgica.ac.ge

The project “Georgian Manuscript (on-line Encyclopedia)” was prepared with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation and on the basis of National Center of Manuscripts. The Encyclopedia is based on the results of scientific work that has been conducted at the National Center of Manuscripts for years. Georgian manuscript encyclopedia contains the following:

  • Alphabetic, thematic articles (ecclesiastical writings, historical writings, writing centers at monasteries, collections preserved in Georgia and abroad, process of creation of a manuscript, materials for writing, specialists of Georgian studies…) arranged according to author name.
  • Articles with polygraphy, illustrations and English translations
The portal is available for everyone and has a potential for growth.
