It is noteworthy that UNESCO has declared 2013 the jubilee year of Ekvtime Takaishvili. The current year coincides with 150th anniversary of Ekvtime Takaishvili’s day of birth. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is proposing two types of competitions to the schools: A project competition: “What we know about Ekvtime Takaishvili” and a competition of blogs on the topic of Ekvtime Takaishvili’s biography.
The aim of the competitions is to popularize merit of Ekvtime Takaishvili and to encourage research, evaluation and critical thinking skills among pupils as well as development of team working and presentation skills.
Materials presented for the competitions may contain widely known facts that are reflected in historiography as well as less known facts.
Pupils of basic and secondary levels of public and private schools are eligible to participate in the competitions. Participation can be individual and in groups. Contestants will have a period of approximately 20 days in order to complete their work.
Each school shall present one winning project and blog (at their own discretion) to the Ministry. A special commission set up at the Ministry shall name the winners. They will be awarded with diplomas and prizes.
